About the book
From Louisa May Alcott’s beloved classic Little Women, Geraldine Brooks has animated the character of the absent father, March, and crafted a story “filled with the ache of love and marriage and with the power of war upon the mind and heart of one unforgettable man”.
Reviewed by Brats et al Reading Group:
We liked the idea of the author taking the father from Little Women and expanding on his character and also that of the mother. We felt that the book portrayed the different characters well and the relationships between the characters. It expanded our knowledge of the American Civil War period and helped us to consider the shades of grey that there are in every conflict. We would recommend this book.
