Lemon sherbet and dolly blue by Lynn Knight

About the book

It is said that you can’t choose your relatives but some of Lynn Knight‘s family did. Three generations were adopted, and adopted in three distinct ways. ‘Lemon Sherbet and Dolly Blue’ tells their extraordinary story.

Told through the eyes of her family and gives a very good account of social history. Perhaps a little too long?

  1. Review by Denmead Reading circle
Generally well received, although several members did not finish it – felt it became a bit complicated. A bit text book like.

  2. A book that needed tighter editing, couldn’t decide if it was social history or a family saga. The format was distracting at times.
That said, discussion of this book has resulted in us wanting to attempt a local oral history project.
