Solar by Ian McEwan

About the book

Ranging from the Arctic Circle to the deserts of New Mexico, ‘Solar‘ is a serious and darkly satirical novel, showing human frailty struggling with the most pressing and complex problem of our time. It is a story of one man’s greed and self-deception.

Reviewed by Maisemore Book Group

Yes we enjoyed the book. There were too many scientific descriptions which to the lay reader were baffling and we felt didn’t add to the story apart from being a contrast between Michael Beard’s personality and his scientific theories. We didn’t feel any sympathy for his character; selfish.
