Easter craft sessions

Saturday 31 March

Little tiger author workshop at Winchester Discovery Centre

Join fantastic children’s author Jonny Lambert, creator of ‘Look Out, It’s A Dragon!’ and ‘Tiger, Tiger’, for a free craft and illustration workshop.

Tuesday 3 April

Storytelling session and Dressing Up at Winchester Discovery Centre

Special storytelling session and meet-the-author workshop with acclaimed writer Richard Hardie, author of the Temporal Detective Agency series of books for young adults. Featuring narration, dressing-up and a chance to learn about the craft of creative writing. For young adults/older children of all ages!

Wednesday 4 April

Chickens for children at Waterlooville Library

Join Janet – and her well behaved hens – for a workshop all about chickens and how to care for them.

Time: 2pm

National young writers’ awards at Fareham Library

Come along to this free workshop to help you plan your entry for Explore Learning’s National Young Writers Awards. Then write a story of up to 500 words based on heroes to be submitted for a chance to win £500 of books for your school and a family trip to Disney Land Paris! For children aged 4 to 14 years.

Thursday 4 April

Explore learning heroes workshop at Yateley Library

Explore Learning are hosting two workshops for the National Young Writer’s Awards 2018.  For the past nine years, Explore Learning has been inspiring children to write, from the young authors in the making to those a little more reluctant. This year we’re celebrating real life heroes, from fire-fighters and paramedics to teachers and parents. We’re inviting children to tell us a story, in 500 words or fewer, about a hero!

Time: 1.30-2.30 pm for 5-7 year olds  3-4pm for children aged 8+

Monday 9 April

Traction man is here storytime special at Gosport Discovery Centre

Come and hear the story of a well turned out superhero. This stylish hero has some fashionable flair until, one fateful day, Granny has other ideas! Hear this inventive and original story and take part in some crafty fun afterwards. Suitable for children aged 3 to 10 years accompanied by an adult.

Wednesday 11 April

Children’s story writing workshop at Winchester Discover Centre

Children’s author Nick Newberry puts on a special story writing class for kids aged 6+, teaching them how to create characters, plots, dialogue and more!

Time: 10am – 12pm

Bee Keeping activity at Waterlooville Library

Come along and join Pippa from the Petersfield Beekeeping Association and learn about bees, honey, beeswax and beekeeping. Plus have fun with bee crafts and planting a bee friendly plant to take home.

Design and make for spring at Basingstoke Discover Centre

Get ready for spring with this 90-minute textiles workshop for children aged 5 – 12. Create your own T-shirt design using fabric paints and embellishments. Bring your own T-shirt: paints and extras supplied.

Friday 13 April

ABC baby concerts: Easter Bunny Hop! at Winchester Discovery Centre

ABC concerts are an experience for you and your baby or toddler You will be taken on a rich, stimulating, engaging and fun journey through the world of music in an environment that is built around your needs, and those of your baby. At each concert music is brought to life by some amazing professional musicians. these concerts are not ‘dumbed down’. Babies are known to concentrate fully on something that is engaging, fun and stimulating and ABC are all of those things.

Time: 2pm sessions usually last for approximately 45 minutes

Easter Workshop…for adults!

Tuesday 3 April

Introduction to Weaving at Winchester Discovery Centre

And not leaving the adults out for some crafty Easter fun! This class is ideal for beginners who are interested in learning to weave on a lap loom.The workshop will cover all the steps in the creation of a small wall hanging, from warping the loom, to removing and finishing the final woven piece. You will be encouraged to explore and experiment with colours, textures, different yarns and techniques. All materials will be provided. This is a relaxing and therapeutic, beginner friendly project.
